    Walnut, CA (Swimming) -- The Citrus College Swim and Dive team participated in the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational this weekend. The Fighting Owls took on 21 teams from across the State and found their most success in the freestyle events. Of the seven Top 15 finishes for Citrus, four came in the freestyle category.

    Top finish of the weekend went to Sara Valiferdowsi. Valiferdowsi grabbed a seventh place finish in the 1650 Freestyle event with a time of 19:49.57, and knocked nearly six seconds of her previous best time in the 500 Free (5:40.17) and finishing in 11th place out of over 58 competitors. The other top performance on the weekend on the women’s side belonged to Brittany Orduno, who finished 13th in the 100 Meter Butterfly race with a time of 37.70.

    For the men, sophomore Jordan Rivas continued to shine. Rivas finished 13th out of 127 swimmers in the 50 Free (22.75), and then turned around and finished 10th out of 109 competitors in the 100 Free (50.41). Diver Dylan Rudy posted a top ten finish for the Citrus Diving Team. Rudy totaled 158.30 points in the 3 Meter Diving Event. The Fighting Owls also got a Top 15 finish in the 400 Yard Medley Relay where they took 14th (4:02.48).

    Citrus will host their first meet of the year this Friday as they host Santa Monica College in a WSC Dual Meet. First event is set to go off at 2:30 PM.
