Esparza and Myers Shine at APU Invite 

Azusa, CA (Track and Field) -- In a meet that featured schools from all around the country and from every collegiate level of competition from NCAA Division I on down, the Citrus College track and field athletes held their own this past weekend at the APU Invitational. Along with their teammates two athlete in particular posted very impressive finishes.

On the womens side Jennifer Esparza was impressive finishing 6th out of 24 competitors in the javelin. Esparza's throw of 36.30m only 3 meters behind the 3rd place finisher, and was the highest finish by any Citrus College female athlete this weekend. Christina Palmer also was impressive in the triple jump, with a jump of 10.48m and a 10th place finish.

For the men Tarynn Myers was the star, taking 4th place out of 54 competitors with a blazing time of 21.44 seconds in the 200m dash. Myers finished just .03 seconds out of the 3rd place spot, and was the only college affiliated runner to finish in the top 4. Hector Cordova also had a strong showing for the men finishing 22nd out of 44 runners in the 5000 meter run.

The Track and Field squad will hit the road this weekend to take part in the WSC Prelims this Saturday at College of the Canyons. Events start at 12:00 p.m.
