Palmer and Howard Headline Citrus Effort at Mountain T Invitational 

Flagstaff, AZ (Track and Field) – The Citrus College Track and Field squad got their first taste of real competition as it traveled to Arizona to participate in the Mountain T Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona University. College and Universities from all over the Western United States traveled to participate, and while Citrus is young it held its own especially in the Long Jump Open division.

Christina Palmer took first place in the Women’s Long Jump Open Division posting a distance of 16 feet and 4¼ inches, a full 4 inches further then her nearest competitor. Not to be outdone, Andrew Howard took 1st in the Men’s Long Jump Open division beating out 7 other competitors with a mark of 20 feet and 3¾ inches.

While Palmer and Howard were the headliners for the Citrus contingency, some other Owls posted some impressive finishes considering the competition. Vinny Delgado finished 8th out of 12 in the Men’s 1 Mile posting a time of 5 minutes 8 seconds, and Tarynn Myers finished 27th out of 40 recording a time of 7.22 seconds in the Men’s 60 Meter Dash.
