Raper PR's and Takes Second in State

San Mateo, CA(Track and Field) – Some people say that great competitors step up when the lime-light is the brightest. On the community college track and field scene, there is no bigger stage then the State Track and Field Championships, where Citrus College athlete Rachel Raper participated in the hammer throw coming into the weekend as the fifth seeded thrower. Raper saved her best effort for her last effort as she threw for a personal record 48.22m (158.2 feet) and took 2nd place at the State Championships, besting her previous PR by 14 feet.

Other female Citrus athletes participating in the State Championships were Jennifer Esparza who took 7th in the Javelin throw with a distance of 36.18 meters (118.7 feet), and Cristina Palmer who also took 7th in the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.86m (35.6 feet). The lone Citrus male athlete to participate in the competition was O’Neill Roussell who threw the shot-put 14.81 meters (48.5 feet) and took 6th place.
