Valley Glen, CA (Track and Field) -- The Citrus College track and field squad got stellar performances from a pair of sophomores, Kenneth Boggs and Tina Soto, in their WSC Meet hosted by LA Valley College on Friday afternoon. Boggs finished 1st in the 110M Hurdles, while Soto blew away the field in the 3,000M run.
On the men's side, Boggs turned in two of the best Citrus' performances of the day finishing 1st in the 110M Hurdles (15.86 seconds), and taking second in the 400M Hurdles (59.00 seconds). Despite his impressive performances in both events, Boggs wasn't the only male athlete to post strong times. James Stewart and Ediyani Daniel, also turned in good showings, as Stewart took 2nd in the 400M Dash with a time of 50.75 seconds, while Daniel placed 2nd in the High Jump with a jump of 1.82 Meters.
For the women, Soto took first in the 3,000M run for the second time this season. Her time of 11:57.88 was a full eight seconds faster then her nearest competitor. Other top performances of the day came from Cynthia Acedo, who took 2nd in the 200M Dash with a time of 27.94 seconds, and Nicole Diaz and Megan Wegner in the field events. Diaz finished third in the Discus with a throw of 69 feet and 5 inches, while Wegner took 2nd in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 86 feet and 11 inches.
The Fighting Owls will be back on the road competing this weekend in a non-conference event. Citrus will be travelling Cal State Northridge to participate in the Northridge Relays Friday and Saturday March 14-15.
