Women Lead Citrus at WSC PrelimsVentura, CA (Track and Field) -- The Citrus College women’s track and field team highlighted Citrus’ effort at the 2010 WSC Prelims held at Ventura College on Saturday afternoon. Six women posted Top 11 performances, compared to just two on the men’s side. PR’s Rule Day for Citrus at Inland MeetValley Glen, CA (Track and Field) -- On a day in which the Citrus College Men’s and Women’s track and field teams both finished last at the WSC Inland Meet hosted by LA Valley College, all was not lost for the Fighting Owls. Despite a poor team showing, the Fighting Owls boasted five personal records on Friday. Hopkins Highlights Citrus at AVC InviteLancaster, CA (Track and Field) -- Freshman Tyler Hopkins posted three sixth place finishes at the Antelope Valley College Invitational as he led Citrus College’s effort there. Hopkins and sophomore Vanessa Esquivel were the only Fighting Owls to post scores for Citrus at the invite. Handful of Owls Excel at Easter RelaysSanta Barbara, CA (Track and Field) -- The Citrus College Track and Field team had a handful of strong performances this week at the East Relays hosted by Santa Barbara City College. Three men and four women finished in the top two-thirds of their respective events, leading Citrus to a solid showing. Avant GardeVentura, CA (Track and Field) -- Freshman Maya Avant had a strong showing at the WSC South Meet hosted Ventura College on Friday afternoon. Avant posted a 1st in 4th place showing in two field events, and was the highlight of the Citrus athletes on Friday. Elder StatesmanVentura, CA (Track and Field) -- Freshman javelin thrower Matthew Elder looked like a veteran and made a statement on Friday afternoon at the WSC Relays hosted by Ventura College. Elder threw the javelin 158 feet 3 inches, and took second place in the Men’s Javelin Throw. Elder fell just two inches shy of the first place finisher and set the tone for the Citrus Track and Field program at the relays. Track and Field Has Strong Start at Pitzer All-ComersClaremont, CA (Track and Field) -- The 2010 Citrus College Track and Field season got off to a strong start this weekend at the Pomona Pitzer College All-Comers. The Fighting Owls posted nine Top 10 Finishes in what was a promising beginning to their 2010 campaign. |
