Glendora, CA (Volleyball) – Citrus College dominated Santa Monica College in Friday nights WSC match-up. The Lady Owls cruised to their 5th straight WSC victory winning in 3
games 30-15, 30-12, and 30-6.
The Lady Owls dominated the match through and through, leading the entire way except in game 2 when Santa Monica won the very first point to go up 1-0. From their own the Owls never looked back, going on to hit an impressive .444 kill percentage as a team and totaling 9 aces in the 3-0 win.
Kelly Fink led all Lady Owls with 16 kills, while also leading in digs registering 11. Lucero Vargas put together another solid night recording 9 kills and 10 digs. Fink and Jennifer Washington each had 2 assist blocks, and Lauren Bjorklund recorded 1 solo block. Freshman setter Janelle Martinez recorded 30 assists on the night.
With the win the Lady Owls improve to 12-1 on the year and 5-0 in WSC play. The Lady Owls will be away all of next week first traveling to Canyons for a 7:00 pm match-up on Tuesday, before traveling to face LA Pierce, who is also undefeated in WSC play, on Friday. That game will also begin at 7:00 pm.
