Santa Barbara, CA (Volleyball) -- Due to injuries and personal reasons, the Lady Owls traveled to Santa Barbara Tuesday night, without one of their startes and one of their key contributors off the bench. Because of these roster changes, the Lady Owls found themselves playing people out of place, and prior to the match were unsure of how it would all play out. Warn the WSC now, because even in the face of adversity the Lady Owls rise to the occassion as they beat Santa Barbara 3-1 in their first Western States Conference Match.

Volleyball TeamThe first game was the Lady Owls' warm-up as they lost a heart-breaker 30-32. They rallied back in the second game, winning 30-25. Despite the momentum swing, Santa Barbara wasn't ready to throw in the towel, and pushed the Lady Owls to the edge in the 3rd game. The Lady Owls wouldn't break however, as they went on to win 33-31. With the 2-1 lead Citrus kept battling and won the 4th game 30-27, for the 3-1 win.

Tracy Lofgren, in her first game ever as a setter, had an incredible night, tallying 50 assists. Kelly Fink was her usual self leading the team with 40 kills and 24 digs, while Lucero Vargas put together another well rounded game with 15 kills and 18 digs.

With the win the Lady Owls improve to 8-1 on the season and 1-0 in WSC play. The Lady Owls have the weekend off and will resume WSC play on Tuesday when they travel to Moorpark for a 7:00 pm start time.
