State Number One Pierce Too Much For Lady Owls 

Glendora, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College volleyball team was swept in straight sets on Friday night. The Lady Owls lost 20-25, 18-25, and 12-25 against the number one team in the state LA Pierce College. The Lady Owls put up a valiant fight against the Brahmas but in the end, Pierce was way to much for Citrus to handle.

Citrus started things off on the right foot, jumping out to an early 11-7 lead capitalizing on five LA Pierce errors in six straight points. Pierce rallied however, overcoming their errors to take the first set by five points.

The Lady Owls continued their early starts in the second game as they ran out to a 6-3 lead after a service ace by Mackenzie Pike. Once again the Brahma's rallied going on a 8-2 run that gave LA Pierce a four point lead. From their the Brahma's cruised taking the second set by seven, before easily taking the third set by 13 points.

In the loss Citrus was led by freshman Daisy Llamas, who recorded a team high 8 kills, and sophomore Mackenzie Pike who dug a game high 19 digs. With the loss Citrus falls to 5-17 overall and 3-8 in Western State Conference South play.

The Lady Owls have just one game left on their 2008 docket, as they travel to Santa Monica College on Tuesday evening for a match-up with the Corsairs. Santa Monica took the first meeting between the two teams in four sets back on October 24th. Tuesday's game is set for a 7:00 PM start.
