Head Coach Shin Jung

The 2009 season will be Shin Jung's third season at the helm of the Lady Owls. Jung brings a wealth of experience to his position as he has been with Citrus as an assistant for over 20 years. During his tenure the Owls have won four conference championships, participated in five playoffs, and moved several players on to four-year schools.
Prior to coaching, Jung played three years of varsity volleyball and four years of varsity soccer for Charter Oak High School in nearby Covina, CA. While at Charter Oak Jung earned All- Miramonte League honors.
Besides coaching at Citrus, Jung also has played a pivotal in a number of Southern California Volleyball Clubs, including Top Gun Volleyball Club and the San Gabriel Volleyball Club where he coached for seven years. More recently Jung has moved on to Top Gun where he has coached for the past three years. All in all Jung has over 14 years of experience on the club circuit, and in that time Jung has taken several teams to the junior nationals. Currently, Jung coaches the 18-under squad for Top Gun.
Jung is an avid golfer and has run nine marathons. He resides in La Puente, CA.
Assistant Coach Kelly Fink
Coach Kelly Fink begins her first season with the Fighting Owls coaching staff after concluding a very successful playing career. Fink will and has all ready played a pivotal role in returning Citrus to volleyball prominence. Coach Fink will bring her expertise in hitting to the Lady Owls, while pursuing opportunities to continue her playing career overseas.
An alumnus of Citrus College, Coach Fink played for the Lady Owls during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Fink was named WSC Player of the Year both seasons and earned All-State honors as a freshman. Arguably the most dominant players in school and conference history, Fink holds the top two spots in Western State Conference record book for kills in a season. Fink is also Top 5 all-time in blocks for the conference and top 20 all-time in kill percentage for the conference.
After completing her career at Citrus, Fink earned a scholarship at NCAA Division I UC Riverside. As a senior Fink led the Highlanders with a 3.37 kills per game average and also led the team in kill percentage.
Over the past two years, Fink has served as the 14-under coach for the Top Gun Volleyball Club. Fink resides in San Dimas with her son Johnny.
Assistant Coach Lucero Vargas

Coach Lucero Vargas begins her third season with the Lady Owls. Vargas came to the bench after finishing out her playing career with Citrus during the 2007 season. Vargas made the move to the coaching ranks after posting an impressive resume on the court.
Vargas' collegiate playing career began at East Los Angeles College, where Vargas was an All-Conference selection. During the 2007 season with the Lady Owls Vargas emerged as one of the pre-eminent players in the WSC, racking up 1st team All-WSC honors, and helping to lead the Lady Owls to the 2nd round of the SoCal playoffs.
As good as Vargas was at volleyball, she has shown poise in the classroom as well as the court, as she was named to the CCCWVA Scholar Athlete Team. The honor is reserved for those who work hard in the classroom and in the gym. Vargas was the first Citrus College volleyball player to earn the award since its inception.
Vargas, who resides in Baldwin Park, will be attending Cal Poly Pomona in the fall to pursue a B.S. in engineering.
