Mitchell Leads Volleyball HonorsGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- The 2010 All-Western State Conference South Division All-Conference List came out recently, and Citrus College sophomore Lindsey Mitchell was the headliner for the Lady Owls. Mitchell was one of just two athletes to earn consecutive 1st team nods, and was the lone Citrus athlete on the first team list. Lady Owls Drop Final Contest of SeasonSanta Clarita, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team’s 2010 season came to a close on Thursday evening in a tough four set loss at Canyons College. The Lady Owls got a season high 12 kills from Karina Jones, and a season high 29 digs from Isabel Pardo in a losing effort. Volleyball Sweeps Season Series With GlendaleGlendale, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College volleyball team stopped a two game skid and swept the season series with Glendale College on Tuesday evening with a four set 25-13, 18-25, 26-24, and 25-20 win over the Vaqueros. A Tragedy of ErrorsGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College volleyball team struggled on Thursday evening in their match with Santa Monica. The Lady Owls committed a season high 21 attack errors in a three set match, in a 22-25, 25-27 and 14-25 loss. Playoff Hopes Take a Dip in Loss to BakersfieldBakersfield, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team’s playoff hopes took a dip on Tuesday evening when the Lady Owls fell in straight sets to Bakersfield College. Despite being three games under .500 before the match-up, all Citrus had to do to qualify for the post season was win out, and instead Citrus will need to win out now and gets some help if it hopes to qualify. The Bench MobGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- With winless West LA in town, the Citrus College Volleyball team turned to their bench for most of the heavy lifting on Tuesday night. It paid off as the bench mob stepped up and helped lead Citrus to a 25-7, 25-10 and 25-15 win over the Wildcats. Volleyball Falls in ThreeWoodland Hills, CA (Volleyball) -- The LA Pierce College Volleyball team proved why they are ranked #2 in the State of California when they made quick work of a hot Citrus College Volleyball team. The Lady Owls fell to the Brahmas 25-14, 25-14, 25-14 on Friday night. Gutsy UpsetGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team got their biggest win of 2010, and arguably their biggest win under Head Coach Shin Jung, when they downed State #20 Canyons College in four sets on Tuesday evening. The Lady Owls knocked off the Cougars in a gutsy 21-25, 25-21, 25-18 and 26-24 victory. Volleyball Gets First Home Win Against GlendaleGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team finally got their first home win of 2010 on Friday night with a four set win over Glendale College. It was the first victory for the Fighting Owls over the Vaqueros in four tries; as they went on to win 25-18, 25-22, 17-25, 25-13. Home Sweet RoadSanta Monica, CA (Volleyball) -- It's beginning to look almost as if the Citrus College Volleyball team is feeling more comfortable on the road as of late. For the second straight away game, the Lady Owls earned a straight set sweep this time over Santa Monica College 25-23, 25-18 and 25-19. Volleyball Loses Heartbreaker in Four SetsGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- After winning their first WSC match of the year last Friday, it looked like Citrus was going to keep their momentum going into this Friday’s match with Bakersfield. Citrus won their first set, and led in both the third and fourth sets before the Renegades came storming back in a heartbreaking 25-23, 21-25, 22-25 and 23-25 loss. Volleyball Stops Six Match SlideCulver City, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team stopped a six match slide on Friday evening with a three set sweep of West LA College. After gaining some confidence by going toe to toe with LA Pierce College, the Lady Owls had their most impressive showing of the year, beating the Wildcats 25-15, 25-10 and 25-5. Showing Some Signs of LifeGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- After a somewhat disappointing start during their pre-conference schedule, the Citrus College Volleyball finally began to show some signs of life on Tuesday evening. The Vaqueros posted a .305 team kill percentage and dropped Citrus in straight sets 25-13, 25-17 and 25-14. Volleyball Skid ContinuesGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball teams losing skid continued on Wednesday evening when they played host to Fullerton College. The Lady Owls were swept in three sets, their fourth straight loss, 25-13, 25-13, 25-18. Volleyball Loses Third StraightVentura, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College volleyball team lost their third straight match on Tuesday evening, dropping a four setter to host Ventura College. The Lady Owls lost 20-25, 25-19, 23-25 and 23-25. Volleyball Falls Apart Versus CuestaGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team looked to rebound from Wednesday night’s three set sweep loss to Orange Coast College, but instead of a rebound, the Lady Owls found themselves in the same situation as visiting Cuesta College swept Citrus 25-20, 27-25 and 25-12. Orange Coast Spoils Volleyball’s Home OpenerGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team’s home opener on Wednesday evening was spoiled by the reigning State Champions Orange Coast College. Volleyball Notches First Win in 2010Lancaster, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team notched their first win in 2010 last night at Antelope Valley. The Lady Owls persevered in five sets, winning 21-25, 25-22, 25-21, 16-25, and 15-10. Volleyball Opens Up With Back to Back LossesRiverside, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team started their 2010 season on Friday afternoon with a pair of losses at the Riverside hosted Quadrangular. The Lady Owls hung tough in a four set loss to nearby Mt. SAC and then succumbed to Riverside in straight sets in the second. Lawrence Signs With Clark AtlantaGlendora, CA (Volleyball) -- Citrus College Volleyball player Danica Lawrence will leave Citrus early and has accepted a scholarship offer with NCAA DII Clark Atlanta University. Lawrence was a stalwart in the middle for Citrus last season, with 56 blocks and 136 kills. For her efforts, Lawrence was named to the 2nd team All-WSC list. 2010 Volleyball Camp Set for AugustGlendora, CA (Volleyball) – The 2010 Citrus College Volleyball Camp is set for the first week of August. The camp, hosted by Citrus College Head Volleyball Coach Shin Jung and his staff, will run August 2nd – 6th for girls aged 12-18. |
