Glendora, CA (Women’s Basketball) -- The Citrus College women’s basketball team won big on Wednesday night, grabbing a 49-point 91-42 win over visiting Bakersfield College. The win, is Citrus’ most lopsided victory under Head Coach Eric Anderson.
The Lady Owls forced the Renegades into 43 turnovers, and recorded a season high 33 steals, leading to 52 points off turnovers for Citrus in their big victory.
Citrus would lead from the get-go, scoring the first 10 points of the game, and 22 of the first 25 points of the game. After their initial 10 point lead, the Lady Owls lead fell below double-digits just once at the 17:16 mark, but Citrus turned that around quickly leading by 25 points in the half.
Things would be much of the same in the second, as Citrus just kept piling it on, leading by as much as 53 points with over 7 minutes to play, before settling in for their 49 point victory.
In the win, Citrus had four player finish in double-digits, including Terri Washington, who had a game high 23 points, and Dayna Lee who had her second double-double of the season with a season high 16 points and game high 10 rebounds.
Krystyn Jacobs would dish out a game high 6 assists, as the Lady Owls had three players (including with Jacobs) who would record 6 steals.
With the win, Citrus improves to 18-8 overall and 4-2 in Western State Conference South Division play, while Bakersfield drops to 3-19 overall and 0-6 in conference games.
The Lady Owls will begin the second half of WSC play on Saturday with a big game against first place Canyons College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
