Santa Barbara, CA (Women’s Basketball) -- The Citrus College Women’s Basketball team doubled down on their trip to Santa Barbara this weekend. After beating the weekend’s host on Friday, the Owls turned around and doubled up College of the Sequoias 65-29 on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls rarely struggled on Saturday, as 11 of Citrus’ 14 players scored in the contest. Citrus focused defensively and worked to make the extra pass offensively and it worked as Citrus surged to their biggest win this year. As a team Citrus went 7 of 15 for the game from behind the 3-point arc.
In the win, Citrus was led by sophomore Julia Tani who scored a team high 12 points. Fellow soph’s Jasmine Cox added 10 points and five rebounds, while Brianna Barfield chipped in with nine points and six boards.
With the win, Citrus improves to 9-3 on the year. The Owls will be off until after Christmas when they take part in the 24th Annual Grossmont College Holiday Tournament. Citrus will have a tough test in the opener as they take on State #10 and SoCal #5 Mt. San Jacinto College. Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM on Wednesday December 28th.
