Glendora, CA (Women’s Basketball) -- Sophomore Bianca Nunez was named the Western State Conference South Player of the Week today, for her play in two wins over Bakersfield and LA Valley. Nunez scored 21 points in both games, going 19 of 30 from the floor, with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals.
A five foot-four inch guard out of West Covina High School, Nunez has been outstanding so far this season for the Lady Owls. Nunez is one of just two players to have started in all 18 contests this season for Citrus, averaging 12.6 points per game (second on the team), and leads the team with 49 steals (2.7 per contest).
Nunez has helped lead the Lady Owls to a 10-8 record and perfect 2-0 record in conference play so far. You can catch Nunez and the rest of the Lady Owls Wednesday night in Santa Monica as they take on the Corsairs of Santa Monica College. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.
