Glendora, CA (Women’s Basketball) -- Sophomore's Jessica Nieves, Jazmine Matthews, and Terri Washington have spent the last two seasons helping revitalize the Lady Owls program into a playoff caliber team once again.

After helping the Lady Owls earn their first playoff win in four years, the trio decided to continue their shared success at the next level as all three signed scholarship offers with NAIA member Dickinson State.

“We are very proud of all three of these girls,” Citrus College Head Women’s Basketball Coach Eric Anderson said. “Jessica, Jazmine, and Terri all played a pivotal role in helping make our program a winning team once again.”

Washington, who earned 1st team All-WSC honors as a sophomore, will go down as one of Citrus’ best pure scorers. Washington leaves Citrus with a 15.6 career point per game average, after averaging a team high 17.8 points per contest during the 08-09 season. That number got even better in conference play, as Washington 20.3 points a game in WSC South play.

Matthews was a two-time 1st team All-WSC selection for the Lady Owls. This past season Matthews averaged 14.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. Matthews will go down as one of Citrus’ all-time assist leaders with 265 career assists.

Nieves was a All-WSC Honorable Mention honoree this past season, averaging 12.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Nieves connected on a team high 43 triples this past season, and leaves Citrus with a 32% career 3-point percentage.

The threesome join a Dickinson State squad that is coming off arguably its best season in program history. The Blue Hawks set a program record for wins and made its all the way to the “Elite Eight” in the NAIA tournament for on the second time in program history. Nieves, Matthews, and Washington won’t be alone at Dickinson as they join former Lady Owl Jaton Parham who also plays for the Blue Hawks.
