Lady Owls Prove Resilient at Tough Course

Valencia, CA (Women's Golf) -- Though the 2006 Citrus College Women's Golf team may be young, it has shown some resiliance through its growing pains as the year has gone along. Those growing pains would seemingly show over the next few weeks as they have Vanessa Smith took 2 strokes of her personal best scorebegun to tackle the longest courses of the year. Starting last week with Citrus' hosted event at Diamond Bar, the Lady Owls took it in stride, posting some of their strongest finishes of the year. That resiliancy was put to the test once again as they traveled to Valenica, CA to play TPC Valenica a course designed by proffessional golfers for professional golfers.

Jill Caldwell continued to lead the way coming into the clubhouse with the lowest score among all Lady Owls shooting a 104. The most impressive score of the day however, belonged to Vanessa Smith (left), who bettered her personal best score by two strokes despite the tough course on which they played. Smith shot 126 for the day, while Alyssa Beuster and Patty Beard rounded up the rest of the Lady Owl's scores shooting a 124 and 159 respecitively.

Yet another mountain lies ahead for the Lady Owls as they travel to Wood Ranch Golf Club in two weeks for the Moorpark College hosted WSC event. Wood Ranch is yet another challenging course for the novice golfers as the course has played host to the GTE Senior Classic. The match will take place on October 23 2006 with tee time at 10:00 am.
