The 2006 Citrus College Women’s Golf team is a team with little experience and a lot of youth. All 4 women are freshman, and all four began playing golf only a month ago. On Monday August 28, 2006, the young team began their journey and got the season kicked off on a promising note, finishing 4th in their first Western States Conference Neutral Site Event. The match, played at the Buena Ventura Golf Course in Ventura, California, featured six teams from the WSC including: Allan
Hancock College, Bakersfield College, College of the Canyons, Moorpark College, Santa Barbara College, and Citrus College.
The team shot a combined 524 on the par 70 course, with Jill Caldwell leading the way with a 104. This was the first competitive event the women took part in. The women arrived early on Sunday, getting a chance to have a practice round. All of the women improved their scores from Sunday to Monday, all making progress, progress that will continue as the season goes on.
Santa Barbara won the event with a team combined score of 232. The Fighting Owls Women’s Golf team will continue their journey with a visit to Santa Barbara, as Santa Barabara College will host their match on Monday September 11, 2006 at 10:00
