Palm Desert, CA (Women's Golf) -- Sophomore Caitlin Smith became the first Citrus women's golfer in recent memory to qualify for the State Championships on Tuesday afternoon. After shooting a 95 in the Monday round, Smith came back and fired a 86 the next day qualifying her for State Finals in Ventura, CA next Monday November 17th.
Smith's two day score of 181 was just 17 strokes off the individual leader out of Irvine Valley College. Showing the strength of the Western State Conference four individuals from the WSC along with the entire Santa Babara City College team qualified for the State Champioships.
The State Championships are set to begin next week at Olivas Links Golf Course. Smith is scheduled to tee-off at 10:24 AM on Monday morning.
