Lady Owls Honored by WSC 

Glendora, CA (Women’s Water Polo) – In a season in which four school and one state records fell, its only fitting that the women’s water polo team placed 7 girls on the Western State Conference All-Conference teams. Headlining those 7 is Ivonne Garcia who was a 1st team selection and Western State Conference MVP.

Photo By: Nicki ShawGarcia had an outstanding season breaking the school record for goals scored in a season with 102. Garcia broke the old record by four on her way to becoming conference MVP. Garcia was also second on the team in steals recording 64, and third in assists with 47.

Also getting 1st team All-WSC honors was Heather Curtis. Curtis broke three school records and a state record this season. Curtis’ 57 assists in a season and 21 blocks in a game were new school records; while her 337 saves in the season was not only a school record but a state record as well.

Kaitlin Smith garnered 1st team honors while recording 27 steals, 22 assists, and 13 goals this season. Joining those three was Janet Pezold who put together a solid season leading the team in steals with 70, while dishing out 48 assists and recording 40 goals.

Landing 2nd team All-WSC honors this year were Stephanie Emery, Christie Forster, and Amy Lockwood. Forster recorded 13 steals, 9 assists, and 12 goals on her way to conference honors. Lockwood recorded 6 steals, 4 assists, and 8 goals, while Emery had 11 steals, 26 assists, and was 3rd on the team with 56 goals.
