Glendora, CA (Women's Water Polo) – The 2006 Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team is still searching for their first conference win as they lost to San Luis Opisbo’s Cuesta College 4-11.
Trailing 2-0 in the 2nd quarter the Lady Owls got their first goal at 6:14 to make the score 1-2. Cuesta marched right back down the water, however, and promptly score one more time, putting them back up by 2, 1-3. After trading the ball back and forth the Lady Owls would score again, this time with over 4 minutes remaining and the score at 2-3. Cuesta would answer the Owls score yet again as they pushed themselves back up by 2 at 2-4. Cuesta and Citrus would both score once more making the score 3-5 at the end of the 1st half.
Cuesta would come out and score the first two goals of the 3rd quarter, before the Lady Owl’s would get another score at 4-7. Cuesta would score the next 2 goals, to finish the quarter up 4-9. In the 4th the Owls were held scoreless again, while Cuesta put in two more goals to make the final 4-11.
In the loss Ivonne Garcia led all Citrus scorers with 3 points and 1 assists. Christie Forster scored the only other goal for the Owls. Heather Curtis had 18 saves in the loss.
With the loss the Owls fall too 3-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. Up next for the Owls is the Pasadena Tournament that begins tomorrow.
