Lady Owls Blow Valley Out of the Water 

Glendora, CA (Women’s Water Polo) – The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team continued their impressive play at home with a 16-1 win over LA Valley on Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Owls out-shot the Monarchs 33-13 and improved to 4-2 when playing within friendly confines of the Citrus College Aquatics Center.

Crystal Fabela had four assists, in Citrus' 16-1 win over LA Valley on Wednesday afternoon.Citrus wasted no time in jumping out to an early lead scoring the first five goals of the match before eventually taking a 7-1 lead into the 2nd quarter. In the 1st period alone Citrus’ leading scorer Jenn Marshall had five goals. Though she faced far fewer attempts then the Monarch’s goalie, Citrus goalie Auburn Torres shut down LA Valley, recording four saves in three quarters of play, and only allowing a lone goal in the 1st frame. Over the final three quarters the Lady Owls out-scored the Monarchs 9-0.

In the win, Marshall was Citrus’ leading scorer with 9 of their 16 goals, while Lauren Aparicio was the second leading scorer with three goals. Crystal Fabela and Christina Okun both had stellar games, with each player chipping in with four assists a piece. Citrus improves to 8-10 overall and 2-2 in WSC Play. The Lady Owls will hit the road for their final regular season competition as they participate in the Pasadena Mini-Tournament on Friday.
