San Diego, CA (Women’s Water Polo) -- The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team picked up their second win of the 2011 season this weekend at the San Diego Mesa Tournament. The Lady Owls knocked off LA Trade Tech in the third game of the tournament, before finishing 1-3 on the weekend.

Citrus opened up the weekend with a 16-6 loss to Chaffey College. Sophomore’s Sophia San Angelo and Olga Quiroz each had five steals in the loss. After dropping the opening contest, Citrus again fell, this time to Cerritos College 19-6. Freshman Kelsey Droegemueller had three goals.

On day two things turned around for Citrus when they knocked off LA Trade Tech 19-5. Quiroz scored five times in the victory, while San Angelo had four goals. In the final game of the weekend, Citrus lost to the tournament host 15-4.

With the three losses and the win, Citrus moves to 2-11 on the year. The Lady Owls will be back in the water on Wednesday when they hit the road for their first away Western State Conference match-up of the season. Citrus will take on LA Valley College at 4:15 PM.
