Glendora, CA (Women's Water Polo) -- So far this season the Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team has entered six tournaments. In five of those six tournaments the Lady Owls have split their opening day games, including Friday’s opening day of the Citrus College Tournament. Citrus lost their opening match-up with Cerritos 15-4 before coming back later in the day and dominating Rio Hondo 16-4.

The Lady Owls struggled in their opening contest against the State #2 ranked team. Cerritos out-shot Citrus by a margin of 30-17 and after taking an 8-2 lead at half-time cruised to a 11 point victory. In the loss, Citrus was led by Brittany Orduno who scored a team high two goals.

In the afternoon match, Citrus turned the table on the Roadrunners running out to a huge halftime lead of their own (10-1). The Lady Owls would cruise in the second half holding Rio Hondo to just three goals in that span as they picked up their 11th win of the season. Sophomore Amelia Huss would record the best stat line of the day, with eight saves, two goals, and five assists in the contest.

With the win and the loss, Citrus’ record moves to 11-9 overall. The Lady Owls continue tournament play tomorrow morning at 10:10 AM.
