Course Description
Pre-Columbian American Indian communities and political, social and economic development of the State of California from early Spanish settlements to the present. CSU;UC

Begin the course by reading the Announcement link . Also, go to the Syllabus and Assignments link to get a sense of how your studies are organized and what type of work you will be asked to do.
Course Requirements
The syllabus will give you an idea of how your grade will be determined, along with other essentials such as required texts and contact information. You will be asked to do about twenty to fifty pages of reading per week, and you will need to turn in about ten essays that range from about two to three pages in length, along with a final exam essay. Your final grade will also be based on discussion and participation. Discussion and participation will come through discussion board postings. Our History 139 course will have its discussion board hosted on Blackboard.

Technical Requirements
All students need to have a personal, private email address for their correspondence with the instructor. You will need to check your mail regularly, particularly after sending correspondence. In-home Internet access and a personal computer are highly recommended. Familiarity with accessing the Internet and sending email, along with good keyboard skills, are also highly recommended.

This is a demanding course and I think you will find it to be much more difficult than a traditional history course. I strongly advise that you seriously consider whether the online environment and the rigorous nature of the course will suit your learning style.
