Carolyn Perry

Carolyn Perry, instructorCarolyn Perry became a full-time faculty member at Citrus College in 1997. She received her B.A in Liberal Studies at California State University of Long Beach and completed the elementary teacher education program and taught in both Walnut and Bonita Unified School District. She completed her MS degree at University of La Verne. She was a preschool teacher and director. She currently teaches courses in Psychology and Child Development.

Ms. Perry has been very instrumental in creating and implementing many programs at Citrus College. She was the person who built and first coordinated the Citrus College Honors Program. She established the Beta Ne Eta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society at Citrus and has returned to serve as the chapter advisor. She is responsible for the honor students’ involvement in the Building Brides Honors Student Undergraduate Research Conference at University of California, Irvine Campus. She served as the secretary for the Honors Transfer Counsel of California, which coordinates the efforts of honors programs at community colleges across the state.

Working with the Citrus Center for Teacher Excellence, Ms. Perry coordinated the campus wide effort to develop coursework for students interested in pursuing a career in teaching K-12 grades. She helped secure the Strengthening Teacher Career Pathways grant for the college.

Ms. Perry is on the board of advisors of the Institute for Early Childhood Education which promotes quality child care and research in the field. She has been a major force in creating the Child Development degree, has authored a number of new courses currently being offered in the Child Development Program, and was a pioneer in Distance Education course offerings for Child Development at Citrus.
