Program Information

This program is offered in four 8-week modules. Our flexible scheduling allows you the choice of entering the program two times per year - in September and February - with a variety of scheduling options.

As a student in Citrus' program, you will be learning not only in the classroom, but also through hands-on experience in dental offices. You may enroll in this program in a full-time/one-year mode or take the program on a part-time basis, completing it in two years or less.

As part of the training, students begin with classroom and laboratory instruction, which includes the use of dental materials, assisting at the chair/instrumentation, anatomy of the mouth and teeth, infection control, preventive dentistry, dental specialties, and computer use. As their skills increase, students also learn the functions of the Registered Dental Assistant, have direct patient contact during radiology, coronal polishing and clinical experience (in local dental offices).

Upon successful completion of the program, the student earns a Certificate of Completion and also has the option of earning an associate of science degree.

The employment rate for graduates of the program is usually over 90%, with most students being hired upon graduation. The average pass rate on the State Board Exam (RDA Exam) is 100% on the written exam and over 85% on the practical exam (state average is 65%).
