Quizzes will be given at the beginning of class on an irregular bases. The lowest score will be disregarded and the others averaged to arrive at 10% of the total grade.
There will be three examinations during the semester. A performance exam on the operation of audiovisual equipment worth 15% of the total grade, will be given to each student individually as soon as they feel they are ready but must be completed by the 9th week of the semester. The midterm, worth 10% of the total grade, will be given on or about the 7th week and will cover everything in the course to that date except equipment operation. A final examination, covering everything in the course, will be worth 15% of the total grade.
A short research paper dealing with an audiovisual topic will be used to determine 5% of the final grade. This paper is due on or before the 9th week of the semester.
Lab projects dealing with the repair, selection, and acquisition of equipment and materials will make up 25% of the final grade.
The final 20% of the grade will be determined by a project in which the student will plan and produce a 2 to 4 minute video presentation.
