Mrs. Susan M. Keith of Claremont was elected as a member of the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees in 1999, and was reelected in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015. She represents Claremont and portions of Pomona and La Verne.

In addition to serving four terms as president of the Citrus College Board, Mrs. Keith was elected in the spring of 2013 and re-elected in 2016 by her peers across the state to serve on the Board of Directors of the California Community College Trustees (CCCT). She is a Resource Team member for the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative established by the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges to assist colleges with Accreditation and other issues and also serves on a CCCT subcommittee that recommends candidates for offices on the national community college trustee organization.

Mrs. Keith has been a strong advocate for the California Community College local, state and national legislative agendas. She is a member of Assemblymen Chris Holden’s Educational Advisory Committee and past liaison to the Citrus College Board with the Los Angeles County School Trustees Association She has worked on successful initiatives that promote collaboration between community colleges and K-12, including the dual enrollment which makes it possible for high school students to pursue a community college associate’s degree concurrently with a high school diploma. Mrs. Keith also has been an active advocate of the extension of the Gold Line light rail from Pasadena to Claremont.

Mrs. Keith was a 12-year member and past president of the Claremont Board of Education. She also served as president for a number of years of the Baldy View ROP Commission. She has served on the Boards of Directors of a number of community organizations, including Options for Learning, an East San Gabriel Valley child development program; the League of Women Voters of the Claremont Area; the Claremont Youth Master Plan Partnership; the Citrus College Foundation; the Claremont Forum; and the Claremont Chamber of Commerce. She was a founding Board member of the first Meals on Wheels in the Pomona Valley. Sue currently serves as President of the Kiwanis Club of Claremont.

A former development and public relations executive, Mrs. Keith retired from Uncommon Good in 2007 where she served as the fund development director. She was director of fund development for Project SISTER and House of Ruth, and special projects director for the Volunteer Center of the Greater Pomona Valley. In addition, Mrs. Keith has extensive experience in educational public relations, holding positions at Claremont Graduate University, Pitzer College, and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Mrs. Keith has received several honors for her work in the community including the Ruth Ordway Award from the LWV of the Claremont Area, the YWCA Woman of Achievement Award, the Community Hero Award from the Los Angeles County Fair Association, the Richard S. Kirkendall Extraordinary Contribution Award the Claremont Management Association and as Grand Marshall of Claremont's annual Fourth of July parade.

Mrs. Keith attended Lassen Community College and earned a bachelor’s degree in English from California State University, East Bay. She completed postgraduate studies in art photography.
