COURSE DESCRIPTION
Fundamental operations with polynomials and rational expressions, products and factoring, linear and quadratic equations in one variable, inequalities, exponents, radicals, graphing linear equations, systems of equations, applications and introduction to functions.

MEASURE OF STUDENT SUCCESS

Exams and Assignments

• There will be five Exams (All Comprehensive). No makeup exams will be given, however your exam score will be sum of your four best exam scores.
• There will be ten assignments. All assignments must be submitted by the indicated due dates. No late assignment will be accepted. Your assignment score will be the sum of your nine best assignment scores.
• Weekly time-on-task hours are required.

INTRODUCTION TO ALEKS

Most of your time in this course will be spent in the ALEKS system. Thus, one of your first assignments is to go through these video, presentations, and web pages to familiarize yourself with the ALEKS system.

Honor Policy

• All work must be your own. You may discuss the material in the course and help one another; however, any work you hand in for a grade must be your own. If you have any questions about this, please see me immediately.
• Cheating will not be tolerated. Any student caught cheating will be given at least a zero on the assignment or exam and will be referred to the Dean of Student Affairs for disciplinary action. You may be given an F for the course and/or be removed from the class. Repeat offenders may suffer expulsion from the college.

EMAIL ACCOUNTS 
You will need to use your Official Citrus College issued email account. Your email is established when you are registered for classes. You must have access to your email account prior to starting the class.

Details regarding the course are set forth in the class website. When you go there (see below), pay particular attention to the syllabus section and the assignment section.

• Your WingSpan ID becomes your Blackboard Username
• Your WingSpan PIN (Personal Identification Number) becomes your Blackboard password
• To change your PIN/password requires, change it in WingSpan
• Data will be transferred from WingSpan to Blackboard on a regular basis

Once you get to the Blackboard welcome page, click on the Elementary Algebra course link on the right, and you will go to the course site. Familiarize yourself with the course site and if you have any questions please email your instructor with your concerns. Get your textbook (optional: an ebook version of the book is included in ALEKS) and get started with your initial assignments. A major key to your success in this course will be keeping up with both the reading and other assignments
