On Friday, April 24, 2009, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Citrus College hosted its first-ever Earth Day Celebration.
The event, which was open to the public, included workshops, lectures, an electric car demonstration, Green campus tours, and many more fun and informative environmental activities.
Award-winning scientist and conservationist Dr. Biruté M.F. Galdikas was the keynote speaker at the event. Galdikas, the world’s foremost authority on the orangutan, spoke on the topic, "Going Green by Saving Orangutans and the Tropical Forest."
As part of the celebration, the Citrus College Green Team presented four Environmental Awards: student, faculty, staff, and community.
