By integrating library resources into your Blackboard course design, you can enhance your courses by providing links to significant and relevant online journals, digital articles, electronic databases and websites. You can also provide students with an opportunity to be in contact with a librarian when a research question arises.
How can I include the library in my course design?
Add a link to the Library to your Blackboard course site, to provide your students with access to our very substantial electronic resources, including databases of more than 18,000 electronic journal titles and 15,000 electronic books, including many reference works (dictionaries and encyclopedias), so that students are aware that they can do their research online to support their work for your class. The simplest way to do this is to :
Login to Blackboard
Click to open your Course site
Click on Control Panel
Click on Manage Course Menu
Click on Add – External Link (at the top)
Then fill in:
Name: Library
URL: http://www.citruscollege.edu/library
Your students are welcome to contact us for research assistance, by clicking on the Email a Librarian link on the library homepage or calling the Reference Desk at 626-914-8644.
Schedule library instruction to coincide with an assignment that requires research.

More Links to consider adding:

- Research Tips will help your students use the library databases more effectively
- Add a direct link to a journal article that is required reading. Note: Not all articles are available for linking.
- Add a direct link to a library e-reserve item. Call 857-4061 for questions about e-reserves
- Add a direct link to an eJournal related to your course.
- Add direct links to credible websites pertaining to your particular topic or assignment.
Assignments
- Follow up the research assignment guidelines with a link to a predetermined library resource that will offer the best information.
- Have students compare two differing opinions on a topic, expressed in two separate journal articles. Link directly to each article in the outline of the assignment.
Course Documents
- Make a 'Course Articles' folder where students will link directly to journal articles that are required reading.
- Make a 'Live Chat Topics' folder where students will link directly to journal articles. These required readings will be the springboard for live chats at scheduled times.
- Ask a librarian to post Library instruction handouts for easy access after class.
