MY CITRUS STORY - Joyce Dill

As if they are now, and later they shall be.

As one of the fortunate few who attended both Citrus Union High School (1946-1950) and Citrus Junior College (1951-1952), I am honored to share some of my cherished memories of the institution that played such an important role in my life. Serving as a Citrus employee for over forty years also provided me with an especially unique perspective and appreciation for the work the college does.

My ties to Citrus College are strong. My husband and two of my brothers attended Citrus Union High School, and my two sons were Citrus students as well. Looking back on our successful careers, I can honestly attribute many of our accomplishments  to the college’s administration, faculty, and staff.

During my years at Citrus, I had the opportunity to accomplish many things. I worked for five of the college’s seven presidents and also represented the alumni on the committee that hired our most recent president, Dr. Geraldine M. Perri. In 1992, I was chosen to receive the Alumni Achievement Award and was also nominated for the YWCA Women of Achievement Award. One of my fondest memories was being asked to help choose the Citrus College Man of the Year and Woman of the Year.

Citrus has been a huge part of my life. In fact, for over forty years my life revolved around the college. To this day, it is still one of my passions. When I was hired by the district to supervise and manage the bookstore at my alma mater, many doors opened for me. Now retired, I am still involved on a voluntary basis. I was elected to serve as a member of the Foundation Executive Board, Scholarship Committee, A Taste of Autumn Committee, and Alumni Board.
