Citrus College Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
by Stacy Armstrong

Critically-acclaimed author Reyna Grande will join Citrus College in celebrating the start of Hispanic Heritage Month on Tuesday, September 15.

Grande will serve as guest speaker during the Citrus College Latina Leadership Network’s event, “An Afternoon with LLN.”

“Our goal is to introduce our organization to the community, as well as to celebrate Latino culture,” said Debra Cruz, LLN committee chair.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the east wing of the Ross L. Handy Campus Center on the Citrus College campus.  It will begin with Grande, who will be reading selections from her novel Across A Hundred Mountains.  After an hour break for lunch at 1 p.m., it will conclude with a meet and greet with the members of the LLN.

“We hope to increase awareness of cultural differences and promote diversity,” Cruz said.
