Glendora High School Graduate Receives Citrus College Scholarship
by Rachel White

Jiarong Chiang, a graduate of both Glendora High School and Citrus College, was selected for a $500 General Biology Transfer Scholarship from the Citrus College Foundation.

“This scholarship is an honor for me and represents a happy ending to my school life at Citrus College,” Chiang said.

Chiang plans on transferring to a university where he will study biochemistry and eventually enroll in pharmacy school.

“I believe that becoming a health care professional is the best way for me to contribute to our society,” Chiang said.

Prior to enrolling at Citrus College, Chiang said she viewed community college as primarily a place to receive career training.  She was unsure of her major, and because English was her second language, she thought it might be a barrier to her success.

“I discovered that I liked the small class sizes at Citrus,” Chiang said.  “That environment helped me to understand the class material.  The professors and staff are so nice.  Studying at Citrus led me to find my major and define my academic goals.”
