Ortell Re-Elected to Citrus Community College District’s Governing Board

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 

Dr. Edward C. Ortell, a member of the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees representing Duarte, Arcadia, Azusa and Monrovia has been elected to serve an eleventh term.

 

“It is an honor to work with such dedicated and competent faculty, staff and administrators," said Dr. Ortell.  "As the needs of our students and our society change, it is important that Citrus College provide the quality educational facilities and programs that will ensure student success and contribute to the stability and prosperity of our communities.  I look forward to working with my fellow board members as we plan for the future."

 

Dr. Ortell has been a resident of Duarte for 40 years.  He was first elected to the Board of Trustees in 1969.  A former professor of mathematics and law at Pasadena City College, Dr. Ortell is the recipient of several National Science Foundation grants and has authored two college textbooks on mathematics.  

 

Dr. Ortell has a long history of advocacy on behalf of community colleges.  He has helped to create and pass legislation regarding community college education and has testified before the State Assembly and Senate.  He currently sits on the California Community College Trustees Board of Directors.

 

Dr. Ortell holds four post-graduate degrees, including an M.S., and M.A. and two doctorates.
