FINALISTS TO BE SELECTED FOR CITRUS COLLEGE TALENT SHOW

Over 30 local singers, dancers, and musicians will audition to become a finalist in a talent showcase benefitting Citrus College students.

These performers will compete for 20 spots in Valley’s Got Talent, a fundraiser and talent competition hosted by the Citrus College Foundation.  The program will be held at Citrus College’s Haugh Performing Arts Center, Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 2 p.m.

Modeled after some of today’s most popular television programs, this special show will introduce the area’s best performers who will compete for one grand prize of $1, 000 and a $500 first runner-up prize.

Three prominent music industry professionals will judge the finalists.   They are:  Barry Squire, a veteran executive whose musician referral clients include Green Day, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, and Madonna; John Boylan, a record producer  and songwriter who also teaches in the Citrus College Recording Arts Program; and Leroy Osbourne,  a vocalist and recording artist from Great Britain who has toured with Sade and recorded with many well-known performers.

All proceeds from Valley’s Got Talent will benefit the Citrus College Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that provides and administers scholarships for Citrus College students.  To date, over $60,000 in sponsorships have been donated to the event from local firms and private donors.  Companies that have donated $2,500 or more include FLS International, HMC Architects, tBP Architecture, Pacific Western Bank, and Pepsi.
