Free Meals Available for Children at Citrus College Children’s Center
by Stacy Armstrong

A healthy diet plays an extremely important role in the development of young minds.  In an effort to ensure that the children of the Orfalea Family Children’s Center receive adequate nutrition, Citrus College has announced that it will once again sponsor the state and federally funded Child Care Food Program.

Administered through the California Department of Education, the Child Care Food Program makes meals available to all eligible participants without charge.  As a result, children enrolled at Citrus College’s children’s center who qualify may receive a free meal.

The Orfalea Family Children’s Center is a licensed, full-staffed center serving children from 2.5 years through age 5.  Priority registration is available to the students and staff of Citrus College. Additional places are available for families who reside within the Citrus Community College District, which includes the communities of Claremont, Glendora, Azusa, Duarte, Bradbury, and Monrovia, as well as portions of Pomona, La Verne, San Dimas, Irwindale, and Arcadia.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) prohibits the discrimination in all its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability or political beliefs.  Persons with disabilities who require alternate means for communication or program information (Braille, large print, audio tapes, etc.) should contact USDA’s TARGET Center at (202) 720-2600 (voice and TDD).

To file a discrimination complaint, write USDA, Director, Office of Civil Rights, Room 326-W, Whitten Building, 14th and Independence Avenue, SW, Washington D.C. 20250-9410 or call (202) 720-5964 (voice and TDD).  USDA and NSD are an equal opportunity provider and employer.
