Performers Announced for Citrus College Foundation Talent Show
By Stacy Armstrong

Twenty local acts will be showcased at the Citrus College Foundation’s upcoming fundraiser and talent competition, Valley’s Got Talent.

Modeled after some of today’s most popular television music programs, Valley’s Got Talent is designed to highlight the best amateur entertainers in the area.  In December, aspiring performers from throughout Southern California auditioned for a chance to perform before an expected audience of 1,400 and the opportunity to win $1,000.

The Citrus College Fine and Performing Arts Department recently announced the 20 acts that were narrowed down as finalists for Valley’s Got Talent.   Each act will be judged by Hollywood professionals after performing at the event on Sunday, January 30 at 2 p.m.

The final performers range in age from 10 to 83 and represent the cities of Alta Loma, Azusa, Claremont, Colton, Covina, Fontana, Glendora, La Verne, Monrovia, San Dimas, San Gabriel, Upland, and West Covina.  The performances will include singers, dancers, music groups, and one extreme martial arts/acrobatic act.

“This is a unique opportunity for talent in the Valley,” said Tom Gerfen, president of the Citrus College Foundation.  “Citrus College has educated and mentored talent for decades, including the world-famous Citrus Singers and Jazz Band.  These student programs have helped propel some outstanding talent to professional careers.  The January 30 event is an opportunity for people, young and old, to share in that success.”

Ticket prices for Valley’s Got Talent were recently reduced from $20 per ticket to $10 per ticket.  At the same time, there will be an opportunity drawing for a chance to win a 7-night stay at any Trading Places resort.  Opportunity drawing tickets are $20 apiece or 10 tickets for $100.
