Christina Garcia Appointed Citrus College Development Director

Christina Garcia of Glendora has been selected as Citrus College’s director of development and alumni relations, effective May 2.  Garcia was previously West Coast director of advancement and donor relations for the Haggai Institute, where she was responsible for alumni public relations, fund raising, proposal development and estate planning services.

“It is a privilege to join Citrus College,” commented Garcia on her appointment.  It will be a joy to be able to use my fundraising skill sets to enrich a community I know so well and care about so personally.”

In her new position, Garcia will work closely with the Citrus College Foundation and the Citrus Alumni Association to raise funds for the college’s scholarships and programs, and plan activities for alumni engagement.

“The Citrus College Foundation board looks forward to working with Ms. Garcia,” said Foundation Board President Tom Gerfen.  “I am confident that her knowledge and professional experience will enable the Foundation to continue its mission to develop the relationships and provide the resources that enable Citrus College students to achieve their educational goals.”

Garcia brings 15 years of advancement and development experience to her new position at Citrus College.  She previously served as director of development for the Fuller Theological Seminary Graduate School of Psychology and was the director of the Fuller Fund.  While at Fuller, she was a member of the development staff that conducted the institution’s Leading Change Capital Campaign that raised $150 million for scholarships, research and faculty endowment.  Ms. Garcia has also held development positions at Harvey Mudd College, Brethren Hillcrest Homes and World Vision International.

“Ms. Garcia has a proven record of managing development programs and fundraising campaigns that are effective and successful,” said Dr. Geraldine M. Perri, Citrus College superintendent/president. “At a time when institutions of higher learning find it critical to implement more creative and effective fundraising strategies for their student support and institutional programs, the Citrus College community is fortunate to have the benefit of Ms. Garcia’s expertise.”

Garcia has a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Azusa Pacific University.  She is currently studying to become a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).

“I am very pleased that Christina Garcia is joining Citrus College’s development team,” said Mrs. Joanne Montgomery, president of the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees.  “Her knowledge and experience will contribute greatly to the college’s mission of preparing our students for educational and career success, as well as maintaining our strong relationships with our donors, alumni and friends."
