Citrus College Presents a One-Time Performance of “The Bronze Star” Before Kennedy Center Competition

Citrus College’s Haugh Performing Arts Center will present one performance of “The Bronze Star” on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 8:00 p.m.

The play, which ran in November 2012 to a sellout audience, is one of seven plays chosen to compete in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), Region VIII, February 12 -17 at the Los Angeles Theater Center.  Region VIII is comprised of colleges and universities in California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and Hawaii.

“The Bronze Star,” written by Dr. Bruce Solheim,  Citrus College history instructor, is the story of a heroic, gay, Vietnam veteran who struggles to find acceptance and peace during his post-war life.  It also explores current veterans’ issues, such as PTSD and readjustment to civilian life.

The February 8 performance is an opportunity for the public to enjoy the play before it competes at KCACTF on February 15.  If “The Bronze Star” wins the regional competition, it will compete in the national finals at the Kennedy Center on April 15.

“The Bronze Star” features mature content.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at http://tickets.haughpac.com/ or at the Haugh Performing Arts Center box office.
