Glendora Resident, Local Realtor Receives Citrus College’s 2013 Distinguished Alumni Honor

Phyllis Fritz of Glendora, Calif. is one of three individuals selected to receive Citrus College’s Distinguished Alumni Award for 2013.

Fritz attended Citrus College in 1970 and was a member of the original Citrus Singers, who have since become a world-renowned student music group.  She studied voice under the Ben Bollinger, former dean of fine and performing arts at Citrus College, and credits him with teaching her priceless leadership skills that she used to build a successful career.

Fritz is the owner/broker of Coldwell Banker Millennium in Glendora, a 16-year-old company that employs 52 sales associates and nine support staff.  Her career as a realtor spans 30 years and includes time spent as a sales manager for Herbert Hawkins Company, as well as being named the Azusa/Glendora Association of Realtors’ “Realtor of the Year” for 1993.  She currently serves as the President of the Glendora Board of Realtors and has also served in additional leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels.

Despite her busy schedule, Fritz has always found time to give back to Citrus College.  As a current member and past president of the Citrus College Foundation Board of Directors, she has been actively involved in the organization’s fundraising efforts.  Most noteworthy, Fritz served as the chair of the committee that organized the former fall event, A Taste of Autumn.

Fritz also contributes to the community through her involvement with Glenkirk Church of Glendora.  She was the producer of an 11-concert series featuring a 100-voice choir and full orchestra.  She was also co-chair for Music Mission Kiev, which brought 160 musicians from Kiev, Ukraine and hosted them in private homes throughout Glendora.  The musicians presented their music at a special choral and music program held at the church.

It is Fritz’s community service and commitment to Citrus College that have earned her the Citrus College Distinguished Alumni Award for 2013.

Eric Magallon, president of the Citrus Alumni and Friends Association, stated  “Phyllis has a long history of giving back to Citrus College.  This, combined with her outstanding professional accomplishments, is what sets her apart from other former students.  We are proud to recognize her as one of our distinguished alumni.”

Mrs. Susan M. Keith, president of the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees, believes that Phyllis Fritz is a wonderful choice for the Alumni Association’s honor.

“Phyllis continues to share the music skills she developed at Citrus College with the community, and she supports her alma mater through her involvement with the Citrus College Foundation,” she said.  “Citrus College has inspired numerous students to become successful and productive citizens.  Phyllis Fritz is a prime example and is incredibly deserving of this honor.”

Dr. Geraldine M. Perri, superintendent/president of Citrus College, said she appreciates all Phyllis Fritz has done for the college and congratulates her on receiving this recognition.

“Throughout the years, Phyllis Fritz has invested much time, talent, and energy in a variety of college endeavors, including serving on the Citrus College Foundation Board of Directors,” Dr. Perri said.  “I am extremely delighted that the Alumni Association has chosen to recognize her, and on behalf of the entire Citrus College community, I wholeheartedly express our congratulations!”
