Assessment is a process used by counselors and educational advisors to evaluate student readiness for success at Citrus College. Factors used in assessing college readiness include, but are not limited to, official high school and/or college transcripts, evaluation of study skills, goals and career aspirations, and the results of the Citrus College Placement Test.
Who Should Take the Placement Test
All non-exempt first time students are required to complete the assessment component of the matriculation process for placement in English, math, and English as a Second Language courses.
For the current schedule of assessment dates and times, sample test questions and descriptions of test subjects, please go to the New Student Assessment/Orientation Session section of the Testing Center web site.
Students with a disability that require testing accommodations, can make arrangements through the DSP&S Office, (626) 914-8675. Hearing impaired services are available 24 hours, (626) 914-8674 TDD.
Students who have reason to disagree with placement recommendations have a right to request a Review of Placement. If this is the case, go to the Counseling and Advisement Center to meet with a counselor during a drop-in session (not an appointment) to review placement concerns. Bring all appropriate documentation to this session to help the counselor to determine an appropriate placement such as official high school and/or college transcripts.
Assessment Results from Another College
Students who completed an assessment at another college can submit their placement results to the Admissions and Records Office.
