In September 2010, former Gov. Schwarzenegger signed into law the Student Transfer Achievement Reform Act, also known as SB 1440. This joint initiative with the California Community Colleges and California State University puts the needs of our state's students first.
Beginning this fall, the two systems are rolling out a program that will simplify the transfer process for community college students wanting to continue their education at the California State University. For the first time in California history, community college students who complete an associate degree designated for transfer are guaranteed admission to the California State University system at junior status and will be given priority consideration when applying to their local California State University campus or to a particular program that is similar to the student's community college major.
