Mental Health Workshops
We invite all students to utilize the free, confidential mental health services offered by the Student Health Center. There are times when students struggle and we can help. We offer confidential, short-term individual and group therapy. If you are interested in longer term counseling, or more intensive treatment, we will work to help you find an off campus provider. Stop in and make an appointment! We are located in the Student Service Building, SS 147.
Workshops will be conducted by Citrus College licensed therapist, Stephen J. Avalos, M.F.T. All workshops will be held on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. located in the Lifelong Learning Building, room LL 101.

Happiness - September 28, 2016 : Find the joy in your life – This workshop will focus on proven steps to increase your level of happiness and joy. An award winning video and discussion will be part of this uplifting and life changing workshop.

Sleep - October 12, 2016 : Are you getting the most that you can from the time you spend sleeping? Is it possible to increase your learning while you are sleeping? We will discuss new scientific discoveries concerning the importance sleep.

Anxiety and Depression - October 26, 2016 : Both can take a huge emotional toll on a person; learn newly discovered strategies for taking control of your life.

Shame - November 9, 2016 : We will be screening a popular TED talk addressing the dynamics of shame. Learn how recognizing and reducing the crippling effects of shame can open up new possibilities in your life.

"Holidaze" - November 23, 2016 : Learn practical survival tips for dealing with the holidays and the demands of the season. Organizational and time management strategies as well as constructive methods of reducing family downers. Get help this year in making this the best holiday memory ever.

Anxiety Support Group
The support group will be conducted by Citrus College licensed therapist, Stephen J. Avalos, M.F.T. The intent of this group is to provide a comfortable safe and accepting environment to gain a better understanding of anxiety and how one can effectively cope.

Grief Counseling
Second Thursday of each month from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Student Health Center
Fourth Tuesday of each month from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Student Health Center

The Do's and Don'ts of Marijuana at Citrus
This workshop is held the first Monday of every month to discuss the rules and limitations of marijuana use on Citrus College campus. It goes over the consequences if these rules are broken, as well as possible alternatives to marijuana use for students. This is not an anti-marijuana campaign, but rather an informational session to educate students and avoid any issues of misconduct on campus.
