FIGs (Faculty Inquiry Groups) are selected teams of instructors within STEM related fields that meet regularly for a specified period of time to compare pedagogical methods and explore ideas about how to improve student learning and engagement.

Teachers traditionally find their time consumed by course preparation, face-to-face time with students, and grading. While all of these are important responsibilities, they accomplish very little toward teacher development. Through the aid of Faculty Inquiry Groups, teachers can learn from other teachers and they can gain greater exposure to the wealth of knowledge that exists within the scholarly literature. As a result of this time together, teachers can then return to the classroom more knowledgeable and better trained to motivate and educate their students.
