These are free sessions for students planning to take the California Basic Education Skills Test, or CBEST. The CBEST is required for all future teachers planning a career in teaching grades kindergarten through high school. ​

• ​​Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
  This credential authorizes a person to teach in a classroom where many different subjects are taught by a single individual, such as in elementary schools.

• Single Subject Teaching Credential
  This credential authorizes a person to teach in a classroom where only one subject is taught, such as a classroom in departmentalized high schools and junior high schools.

• Foundational-Level Mathematics or General Science Credential
  The foundational-fevel mathematics or science credential is intended for individuals who are strong in math or science, but not necessarily a math or science major. This credential allows one to teach the math and science courses that lay the foundation for higher-level courses.

• CTE Teaching Credential
  The CTE teaching credential integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge. CTE credentials authorize the holder to teach in the subject, also known as industry sector, in grades K-12 and in classes organized primarily for adults, in career technical, trade or vocational courses.

• Education Specialist Credential
  This credential authorizes a person to work with children with special needs. The person holding this credential may work with elementary, junior high, or high school students.

CSET

All future teachers are required to take the California Subject Examinations for Teachers or CSET. Some transfer programs provide waivers for the CSET. Click here for more information about the CSET waiver programs​.
