Randa B. Wahbe, Ed.D., was elected to the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees in November 2024. As the representative for trustee area 5, she serves the communities of Monrovia/Bradbury and portions of Duarte.
A San Gabriel Valley native, Dr. Wahbe has devoted her career to higher education. She began her professional journey in Texas, teaching English as a second language (ESL) at Concordia University. After returning to the region, Dr. Wahbe spent several years as an adjunct English instructor at Citrus College, Fullerton College, Glendale Community College and Pasadena City College. Her dedication and expertise eventually led to a full-time faculty member role at Cypress College in the North Orange County Community College District. She has held this tenured position since 2001.
As a valued member of Cypress College, Dr. Wahbe has made significant contributions to institutional growth and development. She has served on the President's Advisory Council, the Planning and Budget Committee, and the Academic Senate. In addition, she was elected by her colleagues to serve two consecutive terms as the chair of the Cypress College English Department. She also spent 10 years as the coordinator for the college’s Puente Program.
Dr. Wahbe's belief in the power of public education and her commitment to supporting historically underrepresented students has extended beyond Cypress College. She has been an active leader in the Community College Association, which is the higher education affiliate of the California Teachers Association. In this role, she has advocated for students and educators at both the state and national levels. Dr. Wahbe is also a CERT graduate and has served as a docent for the Monrovia Historical Society.
A resident of Monrovia for more than 20 years, Dr. Wahbe holds bachelor's degrees in English and anthropology from CSU Los Angeles and a master's degree in comparative literature, with a focus on Arabic, French and Persian literature, from CSU Fullerton. She also holds a doctorate in education with a focus on curriculum and instruction. During her academic journey, Dr. Wahbe toured multiple continents and immersed herself in various cultures, languages and educational systems.
With a proven record of representing community colleges, Dr. Wahbe is committed to ensuring that every student in the San Gabriel Valley receives an affordable, world-class education. She values the vital role that Citrus College plays in the region and is eager to use her extensive experience and skill set to give back to her community.
