The University of California (UC) Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program offers qualified California community college students guaranteed admission to one of six participating UC campuses:
UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz
By fulfilling a series of required courses with a minimum grade point average (GPA), Citrus College students can apply and be guaranteed admission at a UC.
Benefits of Applying for TAG
Students who qualify for TAG will:
- be guaranteed admission to a four-year university.
- receive early review of your academic records and admission notice by the university.
- work closely with counselor to outline required courses needed for your educational goals.
TAG Eligibility*
TAG requirements vary by campus and major. To qualify for TAG, students
must meet the following criteria.
- Must have completed at least 30 semester UC-transferable units by end of summer 2025
- Must complete at least 30 semester UC-transferable units at one or more California community college (CCC) by spring 2026, and a CCC must be the last school of attendance in a regular session
- Must complete 60 semester UC-transferable units (junior standing) by the end of spring 2026
- Must complete at least one UC-E (English) and one UC-M (math) by fall 2025
- Must complete the remaining seven-course pattern by spring 2026
- Must require no more than 19 UC-transferable units in spring 2026 to reach junior standing
- Must not exceed 80 semester total UC-transferable units, after applying lower-division limits (students with only CCC coursework and AP/IB/A level credits will not exceed this limit)
- Must earn a 2.0 GPA in all UC-transferable coursework in the current fall/winter/spring terms with no grade lower than C
- Must submit a TAG application through the UC Transfer Admission Planner (UC TAP) between September 1 and September 30, 2025
- Must submit the UC application between October 1 and December 1, 2025, and the TAG major and application major for the TAG campus must match
- Must submit a Transfer Academic Update (TAU) by January 31, 2026
- Must meet all campus-specific TAG criteria

Applying for TAG?
- Create and build your
UC TAP.
- Attend a
UC TAG Workshop to learn about TAG eligibility requirements and important deadlines.
- Submit a
TAG Counseling Appointment Form.
- Career/Transfer Center staff member will contact you to schedule an appointment with a counselor to review your TAG application.
- Complete your TAG application prior to your appointment, but do not submit it (deadline to apply for TAG is September 30).
