Writing Center celebrates 10th anniversary
Over the past decade, the Citrus College Writing Center has helped thousands of students with everything from essays and research papers to lab reports and note taking.
As it prepares to serve students for years to come, the Writing Center celebrated its 10th anniversary on May 4 with live music, food, prizes and more.
"The Writing Center, which is part of the college's Learning Center, strives to provide a safe and welcoming space for students to feel supported in their educational endeavors," said Gerald Helm, learning center supervisor. "Our tutors are committed to servicing the needs of Citrus College students."
The Writing Center offers students a variety of free writing services both in-person and online. The center also teaches strategies for reading comprehension and in-class essay writing.
To meet students' needs, the center hosts in-person tutoring sessions Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For those seeking virtual assistance, the center has extended hours: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Writing workshops are also available upon request. Topics include brainstorms and outlines, editing and proofreading, and integrating sources, among others. Faculty may schedule in-class workshops while students can attend a workshop at the Writing Center or request a pre-recorded version.
