Monrovia High students turn dual enrollment opportunity into college degrees
On June 2, 2026, Citrus College proudly celebrated a historic milestone at our inaugural Dual Enrollment Recognition Ceremony, honoring the first Dual Enrollment CCAP cohort from Monrovia High School to earn an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) in Administration of Justice.
These 11 remarkable students began taking Dual Enrollment CCAP courses as freshmen, successfully balancing the demands of both high school and college coursework throughout their academic journey. Their achievement demonstrates what is possible when students are challenged, supported and surrounded by individuals who believe in their potential.
This accomplishment reflects not only the dedication and resilience of our students but also the power of holistic support systems, strong school-college partnerships and equitable access to higher education opportunities.
Adding to this memorable milestone, all 11 students had the opportunity to participate in Citrus College's 110th Commencement Ceremony held on June 12, 2026.
As they begin their next chapter, many will continue their educational journeys at the University of California-Los Angeles, University of California-San Diego, University of California-Irvine, Louisiana State University and University of California-Berkeley, among others.
I am incredibly grateful for the privilege of serving as director of dual enrollment and witnessing firsthand the transformative impact of these programs, especially for our first-generation students. I look forward to celebrating our next graduating cohorts from Monrovia High School High School and Azusa High School High School as they earn their ADT in sociology next year.
Congratulations to our students, families, faculty, staff and educational partners who made this achievement possible. The future is bright!
